WebQuests
Not excited about this WebQuest. I do not ever see myself using a WebQuest as a future teacher. The main reason is that WebQuests rely too heavily upon the internet. This is good if it teachers students internet research and integrity skills. But when the teacher has already chosen all of the material, the WebQuest does not teach research and integrity skills. It just gives students quicker access to materials. Maybe in my WebQuest I can incorporate some of this. But even if I did, I just don't see myself using a WebQuest as a teacher. They're kind of complicated. Maybe my perspective will change after I finish the project.

Yeah I have a feeling that this webquest is going to be very time consuming. I see what you're saying about how the students aren't doing much internet research on their own, but it certainly is a time saver! I think that webquests could be fun sometimes though! If the students are looking around on different websites for information, at least they will be doing a lot of reading! That is definitely a plus!
That is veeeeeeeery true that students will do much reading of they have to sort through websites. I guess, also, providing students with websites to go to helps them to develop skills in scanning for and evaluating relevant information. In this regard, WebQuests do teach internet savvy.
I agree as a Elementary teacher I dont see myself using it with my students. I dont think all of my students have access to a computer at home. Any way its to complicated for the little ones.
I would use the webquest in conjunction with other assignments such as reading and writing. For example: Upon completing your webquest, write an essay on... I too worry that it is too much focused on the internet.
Webquests are good for well-outfitted classes obviously and hard to accomplish without the tec. Are there real-life applications to be done without this advantage?
